Megan Fox and John C. Reilly are making cameos in Paramount’s The Dictator, the latest Sacha Baron Cohen comedy currently in production in New York with Borat director Larry Charles at the helm.

The movie has been described as “the heroic story of a dictator who risked his life to ensure that democracy would never come to the country he so lovingly oppressed.” Cohen is said to play dual roles of a goat herder and a deposed foreign ruler who gets lost in the U.S. Anna Faris, Ben Kingsley and Jason Mantzoukas are also in the movie, set for release May 11, 2012.

For Fox, the part continues her entry into the comedy world. The Transformers star, who is the only actress in the top 20 of Facebook fan pages with more than 26 million followers, has made a shift away from the action world, recently shooting the ensemble comedic drama Friends With Kids, directed by Jennifer Westfelt and starring Kristen Wiig and Adam Scott, and booking a role in Judd Apatow’s latest project, This Is Forty, which shoots this summer.

It was recently revealed that MGM hired Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa (“Big Love,” “Glee”) to write the script for the upcoming “Carrie” remake, based on a Stephen King novel. After the announcement, King mentioned that the casting process will be very interesting, naming Lindsay Lohan as someone who could play the role. Now comes word that Megan Fox is interested in playing Carrie.

“Megan is a huge fan of the original and would love the chance to play the lead,” said a source close to the actress. “She’s 25 now but she’s sure she could still do justice to teenage Carrie.”

Sounds really interesting! Good luck Megan!

Megan Fox is in negotiations to star alongside Paul Rudd and Leslie Mann in Judd Apatow‘s latest directing vehicle for Universal. Rudd and Mann are reprising their characters of husband and wife from Apatow’s Knocked Up in a new story by the writer-director.

Fox’s role is being kept under wraps. Apatow is producing the movie with Barry Mendel and Clayton Townsend. The Apatow picture marks a return to the studio world for Fox who recently wrapped Friends With Kids opposite Jon Hamm, Kristen Wiig and Adam Scott for Jennifer Westfeldt, who wrote and directed. The actress was last seen in the indie fable Passion Play opposite Mickey Rourke. Fox is repped by ICM and attorney Darren Trattner. Universal’s vp of production Erik Baiers is overseeing the project for the studio.

Some very interesting scoop from FirstShowing.net. If this is indeed true, it will be a very different role for Megan compared to her other movies.

Today we picked up a very interesting casting scoop on an upcoming project called Ironclad. A source close to the production mentioned that Megan Fox and Paul Giamatti have joined the cast alongside of Richard Attenborough and Bob Hoskins. Ironclad is somewhat of a castle epic based on the true story of the great siege of Rochester castle. Jonathan English (of Minotaur and Nailing Vienna previously) wrote the story and will produce and direct the film, which will start shooting next March with a rumored budget of $25 million. The addition of Fox and Giamatti have otherwise put this project into the spotlight.

In the year 1215, the rebels of England forced the tyrannical King John to put his royal seal on the Magna Carta, but months later he broke the seal and assembled an army to take over the country again. In his way was the Rochester castle, a place that would become the symbol of the rebel’s struggle for justice and freedom. The last relatively small budget castle film that I can remember was Doomsday and I absolutely hated the way that turned out. Hopefully with Giammati, Attenborough, Hoskins and Fox on board, and a history-based story, this will turn out better. Take this casting as a rumor until the trades confirm it.

I thought I would post this since news is low, and before the rumor gets a little out of control and back to us a bunch of times.

Megan is not starring in Wonder Women unlike you might have heard. This from JoBlo:

While the idea of Megan Fox starring as Wonder Woman is an intriguing idea worthy of debate, it’s not happening. The rumors started last week when a site popped up online with the URL www.wonder-who.com. The conceit being that an image would slowly be revealed to a major announcement. That reveal and announcement came yesterday as said mysterious image was revealed to be an image of Megan Fox as Wonder Woman. While it’s an admirably done Photoshop of Fox in costume – and I can certainly appreciate the skills of the artist and the desire to see Megan Fox dressed as Diana, Princess of the Amazons – it’s a total fake. Relax yourself fanboys, the tattooed one will not be starring in Wonder Women. A Warner Bros. rep (whose logo you see pasted to the bottom of this poster) confirmed the site and it’s contents are “complete BS.”

Transformers starlet Megan Fox will reportedly play the lead role in Fox Atomic’s long-gestating big screen version of the Top Cow comic book series Fathom.

According to IESB, “The studio is currently out to several writers to bring aboard to revamp the script as a vehicle for Megan Fox, who, our source says, has officially signed onto the project this week. Fox is set to play the lead character of Aspen.”

The project has been in development since 2001, when James Cameron’s Lightstorm Entertainment acquired the rights to the comic.

Created by the late Michael Turner, Fathom follows the aquatic exploits of a beautiful girl named Aspen, brought to dry land on a boat thought to have sunk years ago. With no memories of who she is or where she came from, but with a clear affinity for the water, Aspen becomes an Olympic swimmer, a marine biologist and eventually gets involved in research at a high-tech underwater lab. At the lab, she discovers a mysterious underwater race, and her own water-based powers.
